Turn on the customer portal so your customers can sign in to see their work, approve estimates, and send you requests. Switching the portal on does not share anything by itself — you choose exactly which records each customer sees.
Before you start:
- You must be signed in as an administrator. The portal settings live under Settings, which only administrators can open.
- Your Company Shared Email must be connected and working — see Company Settings. Sign-in emails are sent from your own mailbox, so the portal cannot be switched on without it.
How to Access
Navigate to Settings → Customer Portal.
Turning the Portal On
- Open Settings → Customer Portal.
- Click Enable Customer Portal.
Result: The page confirms Your customer portal is live., and your Customer sign-in method and Portal link appear.
What Turning It On Does — and What It Does Not
Enabling the portal creates your portal address and makes the sign-in page work. It does not publish any of your work.
Every work order and every estimate is shared one at a time, and every customer is given access one at a time. A customer who has not been given access cannot sign in at all, and a customer who has access sees only the records you have shared with them.
There is no status a record has to reach first. An estimate does not have to be sent before you can share it, and a work order does not have to be completed.
Choosing How Customers Sign In
Under Customer sign-in method, pick which form your customers see first:
- Magic link — recommended. Customers get a one-time link by email, so there is no password for them to remember or for you to reset.
- Email and password — customers set a password and sign in with it.
This setting only changes which form customers land on. Both methods keep working whichever one you choose, and customers who already use magic links carry on doing so until they set a password of their own.
The password form itself offers one other action: Email me a link. It covers a customer who has never had a password and a customer who has forgotten theirs, so there is still nothing for you to reset by hand.
Email and password cannot be selected until your Company Shared Email is working, because the set-password emails are sent through it.
Your Portal Link
Portal link is your portal's front door. It sits on the Customer Portal settings page with a copy button beside it. Share it with customers, or invite them from their customer profile.
Tip: Put your Portal link in your email signature and on your invoices. Customers who already have access can go straight there instead of hunting for an old email.

- What Customers Can Do in the Portal — see the portal from your customer's side before you send the link.
